Prices reset every 1 July. Retailers reprice their market offers in between. The plan that was good value when you signed up is quietly something else two years later, and from Brisbane to the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast there are a few hundred plans in the Energex area to check it against.
A retailer has no reason to move you to its cheaper plan. The difference between an ordinary plan and the best one for a home is often a few hundred dollars a year, and it only shows up if someone looks.
Energy Made Easy is impartial and worth a look. It can pull your usage if you enter your NMI, but it won’t read your bill, forecast your next 12 months, or tell you when things change.

On a watch plan the market is re-priced against your latest usage around your bills, every 1 July, and when your retailer changes your rates. If a plan beats yours by more than your threshold, you get a report that leads with the number and a link to switch. If not, you hear nothing but a short note that you’re still on a good deal.
Why you can trust the number
No commissions, referral fees, affiliate links, sponsored placements or data sales. The links in your report go straight to the retailer with no tracking. You are the only customer.
A tested pricing engine does the arithmetic on a full year of half-hourly usage. AI models choose between plans and explain them in plain English; they are never allowed to produce a price. Every result records the plan data and engine version it used, so it can be re-run and checked.
Every retailer must publish its plans to the Australian Energy Regulator’s public Consumer Data Right feed. We read that feed daily. No retailer can be left out, and none can pay to be moved up.
Everything runs in Sydney. The AI that reads bills runs only in Sydney and Melbourne. Names, meter and account numbers are masked before a model sees a bill. Bills are deleted 30 days after your plan ends, or the moment you ask.

It cannot say whether you personally are on a good deal; that needs your bill.

You get a personalised comparison to start, then we re-check the market against your latest usage about every three months, around the 1 July price changes, and when your retailer changes your rates where we can detect it. Each bill you send is scored against the forecast. If a plan beats yours by more than your threshold, you get a report that leads with the number; if not, you hear nothing but a short note. Always On adds daily monitoring for newly released or materially changed plans and an alert when a genuinely better deal appears.
